Hey ,

You know that one idea you keep putting off because it seems way too complicated? That was me with launching products.

I mean, where do you even start? Suppliers? Packaging? Shipping?

What if customers start yelling at me because their package got lost in the Bermuda Triangle of postal services?!

So, I just… didn’t. Stuck to my service-based business because it was simple—do the work, get paid, done.

Then, summer 2024 hit me with a plot twist. Pinterest (yes, that Pinterest) booked me for a workshop, handed me a generous budget, and suddenly, I had no excuse.

I put together a DIY tattoo kit for the event just to see how people reacted… and they LOVED it.

Like had fun, took it home, and kept using it kinda love.

So instead of treating that Pinterest check like fun money, I flipped it into 100 prototype kits to test the waters.

Are they fancy? Nope. They’re giving “DIY school project” vibes—just a brown box with a logo stamp.

We sourced materials from Amazon, Creative Bag, Staples and a local Toronto supplier for the Jagua (& henna).

Then we created a landing page, promo videos, and a waitlist - doubled down on creating hype to see if this thing actually SELLS before going all in on fancier packaging/branding.

So that’s the story of how fear procrastination turned opportunity kick-started our DIY temp tattoo kits—with henna kits along the way too.

Have any follow-up questions? I'm genuinely an open book...

Sending Good Vibes.

Nadine

P.S. Next week I'll share the kit cost breakdown and how we're looking into pricing it. So stay tuned!
